Luffy was at first just a stepping stone for Nami to get a hold of a lot of money in order to free her village from Arlongs dictatorship yet right after Buggys arc Nami was somehow getting a grasp on how different Luffy was from the others Pirates bringing her to fell a spark of admiration towards her newfound Captain this starts to deepen further once the closing for the Ussop Arc.
